Mint Bushes

c. 100 species endemic Aust.; all states and territories

Shrubs with oil glands and often strongly scented. Flowers solitary and axillary, or in terminal racemes and/or thyrses. Calyx usually striate, 2-lipped; the lips usually entire. Corolla 2-lipped; tube short, dilated upwards; upper lip erect, broadly 2-lobed; lower lip spreading, 3-lobed, the middle lobe larger and usually emarginate. Stamens 4, in pairs; anthers 2-celled, the connective usually produced into one or two linear appendages. Style shortly 2-fid. Articles reticulate-rugose.
